Starting to feel like I ghosted you (a la Jed and his IRL gf)? I personally cannot believe it’s taken me this long to write and my apologies for that. Prior to the start of the summer, I thought it would be great to have two international trips (so much content) back to back (again, so much content) – and then they happened. Then I returned during Mercury in Retrograde…… and here we are.
Mercury in Retrograde has me forced me to do a lot of the “re”s – rest, restore, reevaluate, and refocus. After the multiple time zones and climates and demands on my mental and physical health, I had to start in the rest and restore area. My body reinforced that last week when it decided it was prime time for a head cold and initiated a perma-resting phase for 24 hours.
The reevaluate and refocus portion has been interesting, as I know that I’ve been in periods of on and off reflection over the last month or so. I could feel the toll the traveling was doing to me, and despite my post about self-care I was only able to commit to myself in limited intervals on both trips. And I clearly did not commit to sharing all of the delicious eats with you all.
Since getting back from Spain, I’ve refocused to put my health first – attending several yoga and spin classes and purchasing a stability ball (which, no pun intended, is quite ballsy to try that out during Retrograde when everything is unstable).
And while I generally tend to avoid starting new things during retrograde, it has broughtme back here – to you – and to exploring international food, in Philly and abroad. And while I may be letting you down without any food write ups this week, I felt I owed you an apology for not being around this summer. Good news is that retrograde ends next Wednesday – and I’ll be back here, with some food to share. Pinky promise.
