A current resident of South Philadelphia, I have been fortunate enough to explore the world over the last several years. After studying abroad in Rome, Italy and graduating from Temple University, I moved to Washington, D.C. to pursue a graduate degree in Public Policy. My goal at the time was to influence U.S. foreign policy and how the U.S. engaged with the world diplomatically.
While that career path may not have worked out, it has led me on several adventures, such as living abroad again in Dublin, Ireland, as well as traveling to South Africa, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and the United Kingdom. On each of these journeys, I sought to learn more about the culture through their food and how this experience can lead to a different type of diplomacy: culinary diplomacy.
The flavor combinations that I found abroad were so incredible that I wanted to seek out these experiences here in my hometown. Philadelphia is not known as an international city, but it’s expansive food scene argues otherwise. Join me on my culinary adventures as I explore not just what the city has to offer but the cultural elements that contributes to each cuisine.
